Types of Herbs at Community of Gardens

Hello Peacemakers, We hope you are well and enjoying your garden's herb(s). I wanted to remind you how simple extracting benefits from your peace garden plants can be! We have distributed herbs like sage, rosemary, and oregano. These herbs can be quickly dried into delicious warm tea now that the weather is cooling down. Tea can have many healing benefits, from stress reduction to improved blood sugar levels.

Sage tea is known to protect against stress and inflammation, help brain health, aid in digestion, and its antimicrobial properties help boost immunity and fight infections. Rosemary tea is known to improve memory, ease bloating, enhance circulation, support heart health, and strengthen hair and skin health. Oregano tea has properties that can alleviate joint pain, support respiratory health, aid in detoxifying the body, and help soothe an upset stomach.

With that said, let's get started on the process!

To dry the herbs, tie small bundles of herb stems together and hang them upside down in a dark, well-ventilated area like a closet, pantry, or kitchen with good air circulation until the leaves are dehydrated and crumble easily. This typically takes around a week, depending on the herb.

Then, with the dried herb, use a coffee filter as a makeshift tea bag or whatever you find that works, add boiling water, and let the water infuse. Now, at a comfortable temperature, enjoy!

We hope you enjoy and find comfort in the herbs you grow.
