The youth interns began by gathering their information for their hook and body. To write down their personal story. After having discussed many topics the Youth Interns choose one issue for what they would like to use for their peace talks. They begin by writing their hook on the issue and then finding information about the issue that they can discuss with their peers. Their hooks consist of questions, stats, or a story. One of the youth interns' hook was a story to grasp the audience's attention on trash littering. “Imagine if you were a fish swimming in the ocean you would confuse a trash bag for food. Because of this you get stuck in a plastic trash bag. The fish continues to only get more stuck. This is what occurs when we contribute to trash littering.” This hook places the audience in their perspective of a fish that is being affected by the polluting of trash. Targeting the audience to perceive this situation in a different view point.
